Enjoying my terrace with friends

Well I have discovered a new fun way to spend the boiling evenings I am currently enjoying in Fuengirola. A game that few under the age of 30 would think to play, but is a great way to pass the time with friends on a hot summer evenings, sitting on your terrace enjoying a cold (alcoholic) drink and a half a pack of cigarettes. Been playing it for the last 2 days and must admit its quite fun! Its quite tactical, yet still gives you a chance to enjoy a good chat.

I am of course talking about the game of dominoes. (Yes, those little ivory squares with the black dots on them). Seems to quite popular here in Spain, and is a nice way of spending a bit of time outside doing something relaxing than just going out drinking or staying in  and watching crap television.

For those of you who might be tempted to try it out, a double six set of dominoes only cost around 10€. And the basic rules are quite simple on the version of the game we have been playing.
Each person draws seven tiles; the remainder is not used. The first player places a tile on the table which starts the line of play. You then alternately extend it with one matching tile at one of its two ends. If on your turn, you can’t place a tiles you have to pass and pick up an extra tile if there are some extras. The game ends when one player wins by playing their last tile, or when the game is blocked because neither player can play.

More than likely there are harder versions of the game, but I’m happy with this version for the moment and so did my company last night.

Have a go you might enjoy it yourself.
